EV CHARGING GRANT INFORMATION AND ELIGIBILITY.
OFFERING YOU THE BEST ENERGY EFFICIENT SOLUTION FOR YOU CAR.
WELCOME TO THE FUTURE OF THE MOTOR INDUSTRY.
If you currently own or are thinking about purchasing an Electric Vehicle and are wondering how you are going to charge it from home, look no further.
R.A.B Electrics can provide an efficient service from start to finish. Below is some information about the OLEV Grant.
WHAT IS THE OZEV GRANT?
This is a government grant for electric cars
The OLEV Grant also known as Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) provides up to £350 off the cost of purchasing & installing a home charging point.
Available for most electric cars and plug-in hybrid cars.
You can claim one charging per eligible vehicle and up to two charging points per household.
HOW DO I QUALIFY FOR THE OZEV GRANT?
To qualify for the OZEV Grant, you need to have purchased an eligible electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle from 1st October 2016 onwards.
You must have off-street parking.
You must use an OLEV-approved home charging point installer.
Below is an example of the type of wall charging pod you could have installed.
ZAPPI 7kw EV Charger
Smart Charger and OZEV Approved
High quality construction
6.5m Tethered lead as standard
No requirement for an Earth Electrode
Load monitoring capabilities
Great integration with Solar Panels
Available in Black or White
HARVI and Zappi HUB
HARVI is required for Load monitoring where your existing electrical installation is close to, or exceeds the maximum limit of your main cut out fuse.
It is installed near the supply meter and powers itself using the CT clamp provided with the charger.
Zappi HUB is required for the smart charging capabilities, and is needed to qualify for the OLEV Grant.
It requires a spare LAN port at your router and a socket outlet to power it.
What EV charging product do I choose?
As an installer, I like to use the Zappi 7kw Charging Unit as detailed above. This is because of the advanced technology and high quality feel to the charging unit.
From a technical perspective, Zappi has integrated Load monitoring and there is no requirement to install an earth electrode, which makes this charger the easiest and safest to install.
Tethered or untethered?
Tethered is great if you have some surrounding room around the charger, due to the fact you will need to wrap the cable around the unit. It's handy for quickly unwinding the cable and plugging in, with no need to plug the lead into the charger first.
Untethered is more mobile, with the ability to remove the lead from the unit and transport it around with you, for on the go charging. They are also beneficial when fitting the unit into a small space with not much surrounding room.
How long does the whole OLEV Grant process take, and what is involved?
There are a few steps involved in the Grant process and most of it will happen behind the scenes.
It generally takes between 5-6 weeks from the time you make initial contact with us, to the installation date. The grant is then submitted at the end of the installation month.
After that it can be up to 3 months to hear back, and upon acceptance, up to 3 months for the funds to be repaid. This has been delayed more recently due to COVID-19.
